What's Up for the Future: A Work in ProgressExpect eeProductCenter to be a fluid, ongoing project with three or more phases until the full editorial package is developed. Phase 2 will add what we call "web-conscious content"--content that calls into play the power of the Internet. For example, we will encourage our readers to share their views, product use experiences and product design issues welcome on our site. We will increase the level of reader involvement in our product analysis function. Phase 2 may also include an online section where editors examine, debate and help our audience understand the new products being presented. While technical in nature, these sessions would also reach out to a new audience segment: venture capital investors, financial analysts, industry experts and other journalists in the discussion of the products being examined. Phase 2 also will offer a series of NetSeminars where the engineers and managers who conceived and designed the new products can talk through their products. If they so choose, vendors can also use this time to share their roadmap vision on the state of the industry and where it's headed. Phase 3 will see appropriate, evolving, web technologies used to enhance the reader's online experience and connect the product to all relevant resources. For example, let's consider a typical wireless product. Imagine, if you will, that all of the components shown in a schematic diagram are live links to product reviews, applications notes, NetSeminar tutorials, downloadable white papers, technical notes, news stories and conference coverage from EE Times, etc., etc. With all of these possibilities presented to the reader on screen by means of drop down accessory menus and/or buttons or icons. We are very interested in your ideas on how to improve this site. Our editors are happy to discuss these current and future editorial elements with you further at your convenience. | |||
